Home & Interior Design Trends to Look for This Autumn & Winter
Faux leather, bright green, mixed patterns, and velvet couches are so 2017. Even though 2018 is coming to a close, there's still time to hone in on all the latest home and interior design trends. So, what are some of the trendiest colors, patterns, and furniture this autumn? And which trends can we expect to still reign in winter 2019? Here are the hottest home and interior design trends to look for this autumn and winter!

Neutral Colors

Modern neutral colors may not seem like anything new in the world of interior design. Years ago we saw colors like beige and soft gray make a comeback. Then, there was a period where pastels and bright colors were all the rage... but not so much anymore! This autumn and fall, interior design trends all au naturale. And you can expect to see neutral colors complement natural furniture. So, what are some colors to consider if you're looking to give your home (or a client's home) a fresh coat of paint? For a moody ambiance, go with neutral gray. This tone is not completely black and it has the right balance of softness and depth. For a peaceful ambiance (and a slight touch of femininity), try mauve. Or, go with blue neutral for a balanced combination of gray, white, blue, and green. And of course, you can never go wrong with beige and stone. You can go the natural route and combine these colors with wood furniture. But you can also incorporate a more modern look with black accessories and furniture.

Tiles & Patterns Galore

Fans of the maximalist style can rejoice with this next interior design trend. Because when it comes to designing kitchens and bathrooms in 2018-2019, it's all about textured tiles... and lots of them! Contrasts between textures and patterns may seem like an eyesore. But when done right, it can be one of the more sophisticated techniques. How do you get it right? First, aim to place different textured and patterned tiles next to each other. Everything from your walls, floors, backsplashes, and counters. And there's really no shortage of the types of textures and patterns you can incorporate. Hexagons, brick, stripes, marble... you name it! The best way to go about creating a contrasting harmony is to use neutrals and rich colors. We're talking emerald greens, mustard yellows, deep red, and navy blue. But you should only apply these colors in small doses. A strong neutral presence will highlight textures, patterns, and embellishments.

Folk-Inspired Furniture & Accessories

As we mentioned previously, there's a great emphasis on the natural these days. With that said, you can expect to see even more artisan furniture and accessories going into 2019. Quilts. Wicker lampshades and storage units. Hand-tufted area rugs. These types of accessories and furniture deviate from industrial designs. And if you're all about feeling homey, you'll likely tread towards the artisan route.

Pink & Gold

If you have a lot of mid-century modern furniture, it's time to compliment them. Gold carpeting has been all the rage lately... and it's still one of the more popular interior design trends going into 2019. Be sure to enhance a gold carpet with dandelion and creamy yellows along with white or gold trimming. Did you invest in velvet furniture and accessories in 2017? If so, you don't have to toss these items away! In fact, you can add to their warmth with vintage and gray/beige pink.
