A Kitchen Island That Actually Works — and Looks the Part
The kitchen island is where everything happens. Meal prep, morning coffee, homework, conversation that spills over from dinner. It needs to hold up to all of it — and it should look good doing it. Our butcher block kitchen islands are built from solid hardwood in our Missouri workshop, made to order, and designed to be the most-used surface in your home.
This isn't a veneer top on a particleboard box. It's solid wood, end-to-end, with the weight and warmth that only real hardwood delivers.
The Farmhouse Kitchen's Best Friend
Butcher block has been a farmhouse kitchen staple for generations — practical, beautiful, and honest about what it's made of. Paired with shiplap, open shelving, or a farmhouse sink, a solid walnut or white oak island feels completely at home. It works just as well in a modern kitchen where the warmth of wood is the intentional contrast to stone countertops and clean cabinetry.
Common Sizes
Most of our kitchen islands run between 24" x 36" for a compact prep station and 36" x 60" or larger for a full island with seating. A 36" x 48" island comfortably seats 2–3 on bar stools and leaves plenty of room for prep on the opposite side. Standard counter height is 36"; bar height is 42". We build to custom dimensions — bring us your measurements and we'll make it fit.
Walnut or White Oak
Our walnut butcher block islands are the signature piece — deep, rich tones with heartwood and sapwood variation that makes every top one of a kind. White oak offers a lighter, more neutral surface with a tight, consistent grain that suits both farmhouse and contemporary kitchens. Both species are kiln-dried, domestically sourced, and built to handle the demands of a working kitchen surface.
Lower Shelf Included
Each island includes a lower shelf — the right place for a cast iron skillet, a basket of produce, or a stack of cookbooks. Functional storage that doesn't require a drawer pull or a cabinet door.
