Solid Wood That Improves With Age

The wood species you choose shapes the entire character of your workspace. We work with domestic hardwoods that are as practical as they are beautiful.

• Walnut — Deep, warm chocolate tones with a fine grain that develops a rich patina over time. Walnut brings a sense of permanence and sophistication to any workspace. If your office leans toward leather chairs, warm lighting, and dark tones, Walnut belongs on your desk.
• White Oak — Cool, neutral tones with a subtle ray-fleck grain pattern that catches light throughout the day. White Oak is one of the hardest and most durable domestic species — it handles the daily wear of a working desk without showing it. Pairs naturally with modern, Scandinavian, and transitional interiors.

Natural knotholes and surface variations are hand-filled during production, giving each desk a smooth, finished surface while preserving the honest character of the wood.

Finish With Rubio Monocoat

Rubio Monocoat — a premium, plant-based hardwax oil that penetrates deep into the wood fiber rather than sitting on top as a film. The result is a surface that looks and feels like real wood, protects against daily wear, and is easy to spot-repair without refinishing the entire piece. It’s the finish serious furniture makers choose, and it’s what every Artisan Born desk gets.

Choose from six Rubio Monocoat colors to dial in exactly the look you’re after:

• Natural — Enhances the wood’s true color with a warm, barely-there tone. The closest thing to unfinished wood while still being fully protected. Lets the grain and species character take center stage.
• White — A clean, bright white with solid opacity. Crisp and modern, it transforms the surface while the wood texture remains tactile beneath your hands.
• Cotton White — Softer and warmer than White, with a slightly translucent quality that lets hints of grain show through. A natural fit for Scandinavian, coastal, and farmhouse-inspired spaces.
• Light Grey — A cool, versatile grey that works with virtually any interior palette. Subtle enough to feel neutral, distinct enough to make a statement.
• Dark Grey — Deeper and more dramatic than Light Grey, with enough depth to complement both warm wood tones and modern black hardware.
• Modern Black — Bold, graphic, and striking. Modern Black turns a solid wood desk into a focal point and pairs especially well with natural wood grain showing through the finish.

• 48"L — A focused single-monitor setup. Works well in smaller offices, bedrooms, and alcoves where space is at a premium.
• 60"L — The most versatile size. Comfortable for dual monitors, a laptop plus peripherals, or anyone who needs room to spread out without dominating the room.
• 72"L — A full working surface for power users, creatives, and anyone running multiple screens or large format work. Makes a statement in a dedicated home office.
• L-Shape configurations — Maximize corner space and give you distinct zones for focused work and reference materials. Ideal for home offices that need to do double duty.

Every desk is made when you order it at our workshop in Jane, Missouri. That means your size, your wood, your finish — built specifically for you, not pulled from a shelf. Production typically runs 2–4 weeks depending on size and configuration.
