Walnut

Walnut is the dark horse of hardwoods — rich, dramatic, and naturally refined. Its deep chocolate-brown tones, expressive grain, and soft natural luster make it one of the most visually striking woods available. No heavy stain or enhancement needed. Walnut brings presence to a room all on its own.

It pairs beautifully with leather, linen, brass hardware, warm lighting, and richly layered interiors. Over time, walnut lightens slightly and develops a warm amber patina, adding even more depth and character.

White Oak

White oak is one of the most versatile hardwoods in furniture making. Its light-to-medium brown color, subtle ray fleck, and open grain texture make it endlessly adaptable. Depending on the finish and setting, it can feel Scandinavian and minimal, warm and rustic, or clean and modern.

White oak is also exceptionally hard and dense, making it a durable choice for shelves designed to carry real weight — from books and pottery to everyday storage and display pieces.

We offer a range of standard sizes to fit most spaces, and we build custom dimensions to order. Every shelf is sized to your room, not the other way around.

• Small — 24" to 36" wide: Perfect for a reading nook, hallway accent, or a single focused display. Great for apartments or rooms where space is at a premium.
• Medium — 36" to 48" wide: Our most popular size range. Fits naturally in most living rooms and home offices without overwhelming the space. Holds a full collection comfortably.
• Large — 48" to 72" wide: For the rooms that can handle a statement piece. A large solid wood bookshelf at this scale becomes the focal point of the room — and rightfully so.

The wood is the foundation. The finish is what brings it to life. We offer two distinct finishing approaches, each with its own look, feel, and character.

Our Satin Clear Finish is a smooth, hard-wearing topcoat that protects the surface of the wood while adding a soft, subtle sheen. It enhances the natural color and grain without overpowering the character of the hardwood.

This is the right choice if you want a durable, low-maintenance finish built for real life — especially in high-traffic rooms or homes with kids, pets, and everyday use. It offers excellent protection against moisture, scratches, and daily wear while keeping the look clean, natural, and timeless.

Every bookshelf we make starts as raw domestic hardwood and ends as a finished piece of furniture in our Missouri workshop. We source our lumber from domestic suppliers, mill it to our specs, and build each piece to order. That means no sitting in a warehouse. No mass production. No two pieces are exactly alike — because no two pieces of wood are exactly alike.
