Seating That Earns Its Place at the Counter.

A white bar stool sounds simple. However, if crafted poorly you'll experience wobbly legs, a hollow seat, and a finish that chips after six months! Our craftsmanship offers a quality that you'll notice and appreciate every single day.

Artisan Born's white bar stools are built from solid hardwood with a Rubio Monocoat white finish that goes on as a penetrating oil, not a paint and not a lacquer. This type of finish not only adds a touch of design, but it also preserves the wood.

Why Solid Wood Bar Stools Are Different

Most white bar stools are MDF or pine with a sprayed finish. They look fine in photos. In person, they feel hollow.

Solid hardwood has a density and warmth you'll notice the moment you sit down. You'll notice right away how the legs don't flex, the seat doesn't drum, and the finish doesn't peel at the edges. These are stools built to match the table they're paired with, not just approximate it.

Common Configurations

  • Counter Height (24" – 26" seat): fits standard kitchen islands and counters at 35–37" tall
  • Bar Height (28" – 30" seat): fits bar-height tables and raised islands at 40–42" tall
  • Sets of 2: ideal for smaller islands, peninsulas, and breakfast bars
  • Sets of 4: the most common configuration for kitchen islands and dining bars
  • Sets of 6+: for longer bar runs, open-concept kitchens, and entertaining spaces
  • Custom height: available for non-standard counter or table heights — just ask.

Wood Species & Feel

  • White Oak — the natural pairing for a white finish; tight grain with subtle ray flecking that stays visible even under Rubio Monocoat white; smooth, cool to the touch, and exceptionally durable

Bar Stool Leg Options

  • Matte Black — A bold, dependable finish with a crisp modern edge. It works well with nearly any hardwood seat and adds strong, clean contrast.
  • Hammered Steel — A textured finish with visible character and movement. It gives the stool base a more rustic, industrial look with an artisan-made feel.
  • Satin Bronze — A warm metal finish with a softer, aged-bronze appearance. It pairs beautifully with white oak and adds depth without overpowering the wood grain.
  • Satin Steel — A bright, understated metal finish with a smooth, polished feel. It keeps the overall look lighter, cleaner, and more contemporary.

The Finish

All white bar stools are finished with Rubio Monocoat white — a plant-based hardwax oil that penetrates the wood rather than coating it. The result is a soft, matte white that lets the grain breathe through rather than disappearing under paint.

It's durable against everyday contact, resistant to moisture, and spot-repairable without stripping and refinishing. The tone is warm white, not stark — it reads well against both cool and warm cabinetry.

Where They Work Best

  • Kitchen islands with white, grey, or natural wood cabinetry
  • Open-concept kitchens where the stools are visible from the living area
  • Bar-height dining tables in a rustic-modern or Scandinavian-influenced space
  • Home bars and butler's pantries where clean, durable seating matters
  • Paired with a walnut or white oak dining table for a light-and-dark contrast

Each stool is made to order in our Missouri workshop. If you're matching to an existing Artisan Born table or shelf finish, let us know — we'll make sure the Rubio Monocoat white is consistent across every piece.
