Onyx Black Bar Stool
Details
DESCRIPTION
Pure black. No compromise.
Onyx Black isn't a dark finish with undertones or a near-black that reads differently in different light. It's black — full stop. On solid White Oak, it creates a striking contrast between the depth of the finish and the natural texture of the grain beneath it. Bold without being loud. Dramatic without being difficult.
If you want a stool that makes a statement, this is the one.
The Wood Beneath the Black
White Oak is one of the few hardwoods that can carry a finish this deep without losing its character. The tight grain and natural ray fleck still show through — subtly, like a texture beneath the surface — giving the piece dimension that a painted finish never could.
Every stool is milled and finished by hand in our Jane, Missouri workshop. The Onyx Black finish is applied as a penetrating oil, not a coating, so the wood stays wood underneath.
The Finish
Rubio Monocoat Onyx Black is a single-coat, plant-based penetrating oil that bonds at the molecular level. No surface film. No buildup. No plastic sheen. Just a deep, matte black that protects the wood from within and holds its color over time.
It won't chip or peel the way painted finishes do.
